100 Years of Living with Christ
Born October 11, 1924, in K.C., Missouri, Betty was destined to become an All American. Married at age 17, in 1941, just before the US entered WWII, Betty’s life became one of service.
In 1942 Betty joined 20 million other women, who became known as “Rosie the Riveter” working to fill those production lines for the war effort. Building B-25 Bombers at the North American Aviation Plant in Fairfax, earning $0.95 an hour, Betty’s work was critical to achieving victory. After the war, Betty worked for Trans World Airlines. A career which spanned fifty years.
Betty’s efforts have been recognized by her family and friends and the United States’ Government. In 2024 Miss Betty was honored on the floor of the House of Representatives for reaching the age 100 (CR Vol 170, No. 155). The same year she won Woman of the Year from the AAUW Women of Distinction program, and the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian medal given by the US congress, for the work she did as a “Rosie”. Miss Betty has yet to surrender her devotion and service. She is active in the veterans community, lending a hand at her local Welcome Home Center and spending her Wednesday mornings mentoring women in the walk of faith with her weekly Bible study “Women in the Word”.
Miss Betty is an appreciated, respected, and loved member of the community in which she lives. And we all couldn’t be more proud to see her honored with this cookbook.
